Qualifying for Sainsbury's Brand Match

  1. You must spend £20 or more in a single transaction in store, and have purchased at least one Comparable branded product (see Condition 3), to qualify for a Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon.
  2. If the exact basket of Comparable branded products could have been bought cheaper, on the same day, at Asda or Tesco then you will qualify for a Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon for the difference in price between Sainsbury's and the cheapest competitor.

  3. Comparable branded products are those products that are identical to one another. Any differences including but not limited to pack size, colour, flavour or variety mean that products are non-comparable.
  4. Supermarket's own label products are excluded from Sainsbury's Brand Match.
  5. You must adhere to any Sainsbury's bulk buy policies. In order to ensure that all our customers are given an opportunity to buy branded products, and to ensure availability of products is not impacted, Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons will only be issued on the first 10 items purchased of any Comparable branded product. Where certain promotional restrictions apply the number of products included in the Sainsbury's Brand Match calculation will be restricted to that promotional maximum.
  6. If your transaction qualifies for a Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon you will receive your Coupon at the end of that transaction for use on your next transaction.

    Coupons will not be issued at the following tills: Pharmacy, General Merchandise, Customer Service Desk, Kiosk, Photoshop, Cafes, Clothing desk and the Click and Collect desk.

  2. Coupons will not be issued Online, in petrol stations, Sainsbury's Local stores, Sainsbury's convenience stores, at Fresh Kitchen or the following stores:

  3. The maximum Coupon value issued will be £10.
  4. Coupons will be valid for 2 weeks from date of print and then expire. They and are not redeemable after this date.
  5. Coupons can only be redeemed against transactions of an equal or higher value than the Coupon.
  6. The Coupon cannot be redeemed for cash, a gift card or credit.
  7. The Coupon can only be used once and must be deposited at the till.
  8. The Coupon cannot be reissued if lost, damaged or stolen.
  9. The Coupon cannot be redeemed against fuel.
  10. Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons are printed at the Coupon at Till printer and all standard Coupon at Till terms and conditions apply as featured on the reverse of the Coupon with 3 exceptions:
    1. A Nectar card does not need to be used to qualify for, or to redeem, Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons.
    2. Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons are not redeemable on line.
    3. More than one Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon can be used at once provided both Coupons do not have the exact same value and are in date. For example you can use a Coupon for £1.10 and another for 30p at the same time but you can't use two Coupons for 30p at the same time.

      Standard Coupon at Till Terms & Conditions

      For store redeemable Coupons with a barcode, please hand Coupon to cashier or scan at self checkout - Coupon will be retained by Sainsbury's at the time of redemption. Coupons containing barcodes are not redeemable online. Coupons with an eCoupon code are redeemable online only; the code must be entered into the checkout page on sainsburys.co.uk and are not redeemable in-store. This offer is subject to availability. Any spend must be made in one transaction. Nectar card must be swiped with the Coupon and, provided all conditions are met, the amount specified will be deducted from your bill or the extra points specified will be credited to your Nectar account within 48 hours. Bonus Nectar points only apply to the amount shown on the Coupon. All Nectar multiplying offers apply to standard points only. Only one Coupon can be used against each item purchased. Only original Coupons will be accepted - photocopies and duplications are not eligible. Coupon is not transferable. This Coupon entitles you to the offer upon the terms displayed overleaf.     Tesco & Asda prices

    1. We match Sainsbury's prices and deals to prices and deals collected from asda.co.uk and tesco.com for Comparable branded products using independent data provided by BrandView.co.uk.
    2. Alcohol prices and promotions in Scotland are specifically matched against Tesco and Asda's Scottish prices.
    3. We do not match against store specific discounts at Asda or Tesco. In the unlikely event that a Comparable product is not visible on tesco.com or asda.co.uk we will not be able to include it in the comparison for Sainsbury's Brand Match.
    4. All prices obtained from tesco.com and asda.co.uk are believed to be correct. However, on rare occasions there may be some errors, which we regret we cannot honour.
    5. Where we collect different prices and promotions for the same item we will use the most frequently used price and/or promotion.
    6. We update the Sainsbury's Brand Match system with prices from tesco.com and asda.co.uk daily.
    7. If for any reason Tesco and Asda prices cannot be updated we will continue to use the latest prices we hold for 3 days. On the 4th day we will stop issuing Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons.

    Categories not included in Sainsbury's Brand Match

    1. Products in the following categories are not included in Sainsbury's Brand Match: 
      • newspapers and magazines
      • all electrical items including electrical health and beauty e.g. hair straighteners, electric toothbrushes, hair dryers,
      • batteries,
      • home ware e.g. Cookshop, crockery, cutlery, glassware,
      • kitchen plastics e.g. Tupperware boxes,
      • greetings cards
      • BBQ and picnic accessories,
      • home furnishings e.g. bedding, cushions, lighting, garden products and furniture,
      • entertainment e.g. CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, computer games, books,
      • hardware e.g. car care, DIY, cycle accessories,
      • sports equipment,
      • clothing including socks and hosiery,
      • items from the kiosk including tobacco and cigarettes,
      • jewellery,
      • prescription medicines from the Pharmacy, non medicine items bought from the Pharmacy such as diabetes and blood pressure kits, travel plugs, travel irons,
      • reading glasses and sunglasses,
      • fuel,
      • photo-processing,
      • in store concessions (e.g. Clarks),
      • items bought in the café,
      • mobile phones and e top up cards,
      • ink cartridges,
      • toys,
      • luggage,
      • stationery.

    Promotions

    1. The Sainsbury's Brand Match comparison is based on what the customer actually buys.

      This means that if you buy one bottle of Coca Cola 500ml at Sainsbury's for £1, and it is sold at Asda for £1, but is also on Buy One Get One Free at Asda, we will match the price paid in Sainsbury's against the single unit price at Asda (i.e. £1), not against the discounted price (50p). However, if you bought two bottles in Sainsbury's, we would match the promoted price at Asda, i.e. £1 for two bottles.

      The variant (e.g. size, colour, flavour or variety) purchased in Sainsbury's needs to be available in Tesco and/or Asda for the promotion to be matched.
    2. All promotions running in Sainsbury's that result in a discount being applied to Comparable products are included.
      1. If a Sainsbury's discount is applied across the whole basket (i.e. to both branded and 'Sainsbury's own label' products) then we will only take into account the element of the discount that is applied to the Comparable branded products when working out the price comparison.
    3. We will include all Tesco & Asda promotions that are advertised on tesco.com and asda.co.uk, that apply to branded products only.
      1. We are unable to take into account
        • Asda and Tesco promotions that apply to a whole shop, e.g £5 off if you spend £30

          Promotions on,

      2. Any promotion that includes Tesco or Asda own-label lines will not be included.
    4. We do not take into account any % extra free promotions (as these are considered non-comparable products), bonus loyalty points promotions, category wide promotions, petrol promotions (e.g. spend £x and get xp off per litre of fuel purchased),or 'purchase x for a free product' offers, e.g. 'buy Quakers oats and receive a free bowl'
    5. The price comparison is made against the price paid in Sainsbury's for all Comparable branded products including any savings from in-store promotions, but excluding savings made from the redemption of Coupons or the use of a Colleague discount card.

    End Date

    1. Due to the success of Sainsbury's Brand Match it will continue as part of our regular pricing offer and will no longer end on the 31st December as advertised..
    2. Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd reserves the right to end the promotion as set out in Tesco & Asda Prices - Condition 7 or in the case of any other event outside our control which means we can not operate Sainsbury's Brand Match.

    Rights

    In the event of Sainsbury's having to rely on the rights set out in section 3, 4 or 5 of this section we will notify customers immediately using notices in store.

    1. Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd reserves the right to limit the number of Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons issued to a customer in the course of a day.
    2. Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd reserves the right to withhold the issuance and/or redemption of Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons where we suspect that any false or fraudulent claim is being made or when our goodwill is being abused.
    3. Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd reserves the right to remove individual Comparable products from Sainsbury's Brand Match.
    4. If for any reason Asda and/or Tesco prices cannot be updated we will continue to use the latest prices we hold for up to 7 days. If we have not been able to resolve the problem within 7 days on the 8th day we will stop issuing Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons.
    5. In the event of a major error being identified with the prices we collect from Asda.co.uk and/or Tesco.com we will continue to use the latest prices we hold for up to 7 days whilst we investigate and resolve the issue. If we have not been able to resolve the problem within 7 days on the 8th day we will stop issuing Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons.
    6. Sainsbury's colleagues are eligible for Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupons. All comparisons will be made before the colleague discount has been applied.
    7. We have tried to ensure that the information in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and the Terms and Conditions are aligned. In the event of any differences the Terms and Conditions apply.
    8. The terms 'Coupon' and 'Voucher' are interchangeable words and have the same meaning when reading the Terms and Conditions, FAQs or any other promotional material.
