Taste the Difference Christmas Wines

Last year we gave you two fantastic Spanish Riojas. The citrusy white was floral and fresh while the red was bursting with spiciness, fruit and oak.

Wines to match the festive season

Selected for their compatibility with a wide range of food, the two Riojas from Bodegas Muriel were fantastically drinkable. And they went with everything from entrées, fish and cheese through to red or roasted meats.

Red or white?

There's no law to say that you can't drink red wine with fish if that's what you like. The great thing about the two bottles is that they were delicious on their own, so you really could drink them with anything. But, if you want to know what the winemakers thought, they recommended that the Blanco be paired with seafood, fish, salads and poultry. It's acidity level also meant that it helped to cut through the richness of festive food. As for the Crianza, that went very well with cheese, all types of meat, and was great with appetizers.
