As well as being the UK's largest retailer of Fairtrade flowers, all our rose bunches from Kenya have been Fairtrade since 2007. Over that period, our growers and their workers have earned over £1 million in Fairtrade premiums which they've invested in their local communities.
Buying Fairtrade flowers can make a real difference to people's lives. Recent projects funded by Fairtrade premiums include supporting the construction of a new women's hospital in Naivasha and provision of safe drinking water to local communities in Kenya.
Around 6,000 people work at this farm situated on the banks of Lake Naivasha, one of the highest lakes in East Africa.
Situated 80 miles from Nairobi, this grower achieved Fairtrade certification in 2008 and now employs around 1,000 workers.
This farm in Eldama Ravine employs 900 workers to grow, pick and pack its elegant flowers.
The 1,300 workers here produce and export over 60 million roses a year.
By working closely with farmers we can ensure that the flowers they grow are of the highest quality – and that their local communities and employees benefit from the trade in Fairtrade flowers.
