Made with soya beans, this Japanese paste is delicious when added to beef stews or used as a marinade for chicken thighs and white fish. It also tastes great as a dressing for leafy green vegetables such as broccoli, spinach and cauliflower. Simply combine it with a little sugar and mirin (sweetened rice wine) and drizzle over your veg.
